Over the last six months culturepool has been working on the Scouse Soul Stew project with the Ultimate Holding Company and Metal. Commissioned by Liverpool PCT, the project setout to ask ‘in life, what ingredients are important to us all, what do we need to enrich our lives and nourish our souls?’ and lots has happened since its launch.
During the summer the project hosted 6 community-led discussions in Clubmoor, The Life Bank, The Picton Children’s Centre, Stephenson Court, The Picturedrome-Wetherspoons Pub and The Williamson Tunnels. The ideas and thoughts from the people who took part were sewn onto large banners and woven together to create a large art installation to represent the project. Portraits of some of the participants, along with their ‘ingredients’ for an enriched, soulful life also formed the Scouse Soul Stew recipe book.
On Friday 23rd October 2009 as part of The Living Sketchbook exhibition, the Scouse Soul Stew project came together to undertake the weave of all the banners into one large ‘blanket’, which was displayed in The Bluecoat, School Lane, Liverpool City centre. Everyone was welcome to join in with the weave itself as to keep the dialogue going between local residents, Liverpool PCT staff and the general public.

A second weave took place on Thursday 19th November at The Life Bank, Kensington, where the banners are currently displayed.
