On Tuesday 15th September we’re off to a very special night in the New Picket on Jordan Street, as part of The Working Class Music Festival. Following last year’s success, which attracted many iconic performers including Tony Benn’s favourite socialist singer Roy Bailey, singer/songwriter Alun Parry has organised another great festival for 2009.

We’re expecting a brill night as the line-up includes, John Peel’s favourite band and Liverpool giants Amsterdam. In 2002 Elvis Costello asked the band to perform with him on BBC1’s Jonathan Ross TV show and Christy Moore recently covered their amazing song ‘Does this train stop on Merseyside?’ So not a bad fanbase!! Also in the line-up are local band and NME favourites The Trestles, Manchester’s Claire Mooney, one of the most technically accomplished guitarists on the scene Phil Hare, and fresh from performing at Glastonbury, Merseyside’s number 1 hip hop artist KOF.

Call the Philharmonic Hall box office on 0151 709 3789 and quote ‘culturepool’ to receive your £8 ticket (normally £11). The show starts at 7.30pm but we’ve arranged a very special chat with Amsterdam, The Trestles, Claire Mooney and Phil Hare before the show starts at 6.45pm.
